Meldin® Material Families
The Meldin® product family is the most complete range of polyimide and engineered thermoplastic materials available on the market today. These materials are available in compression or injection molded and machined components, as well as basic shapes for the ultimate in customization and design flexibility.
The Meldin series materials retain their critical properties over a temperature range from cryogenic through +600°F (+315°C) for continuous operation, and may be used intermittently up to +900°F (+482°C). Superior strength and rigidity, combined with self-lubricating properties, provide long, maintenance-free service for critical applications in engines, medical devices, aircraft and aerospace systems, electronic apparatus, and industrial equipment, to name just a few.
Our team of highly skilled professionals works closely with our customers by applying extensive materials knowledge and manufacturing expertise to generate customized solutions for even the most challenging applications. Whether it is a single prototype or a multimillion-piece production run, the Meldin series affords a choice of high performance polymers that can address all severe service applications where design parameters include temperature extremes, high loads and speeds, extended wear properties, and broad chemical compatibility.
Our team of highly and skilled professionals works closely with our customers by applying extensive materials science and manufacturing expertise to generate customized solutions for even the most challenging applications, such as aerospace. Whether it is a slight prototype or a multimillion-piece production run, Meldin 7000 provides direct access to Saint-Gobain’s design and co-engineering capabilities, material testing resources, and machining expertise, providing total process control from powder-to-parts.
Meldin 7000 service offerings include machine shop capabilities, helping OEMs remove one level of the supply chain and streamline product development. Meldin 7000 also provides design and co-engineering expertise, such as engineer-to-engineer collaboration on technical issues, product development and prototype test parts. Finally, Meldin 7000 can validate and/or screen parts through rotating sealing ring and thrust washer testing.
